Approximately 26 percent of the 9,717 people that were killed in 2017, was due to speed-related crashes. The Governors Highway Safety Association(GHSA) says that more could be done to prevent speeding. In order to combat speeding, director of government relations Russ Martin suggests more aggressive forms of enforcement such as automated ticketing through the use of speed cameras. He also states that anti-speeding campaigns may also help decrease the number of speed-related crashes.
